One of the coolest electric skateboard variations that have recently entered the market are the one wheel electric skateboards. The one wheel electric skateboards have a very different look to electric skateboards. The single wheel is actually a tire, and is pretty large, protruding through the skateboard deck, raising the rider above the ground. Your feet sit on either side of the wheel.

At first, it may look like a nightmare to balance on, leaning side to side like a see-saw. However these one wheel electric skateboards are actually surprisingly stable and easy to ride! All it takes is learning the basics and getting used to riding and off you go.

They are cool, unique and actually extremely practical. Plus they really give off these futuristic vibes. What is not to love?!

Not sure how it works? Check out our reviews below where we have included some great videos to give you the visualisation that you need.

2. IOTAtrax

If you are looking for something different or more compact compared to a one wheel electric skateboard, look no further than the IOTAtrax compact style hoverboard. This is a really cool invention. Basically it comes in a cylindrical casing, and the hoverboard foot pads pop out from each side. They easily fold back in, and the board comes with a handle for easy transportation. At 15 lbs, it is very light and great for taking on the go.

The IOTAtrax can travel 6 miles on a single charge and has a top speed of 8 MPH. It rides just like a hoverboard through tight spaces, and is responsive, stable and rides extremely smoothly. Another reason to choose this, is how quick it charges up in only 40 minutes. The IOTAtrax recommends riders of up to 180 lbs.

How it works is that you just move your feet to go forwards, backwards, stopping and turning. Check out the video below for a quick demonstration!
